Physiatry, also called physical medicine and rehabilitation, is a
musculoskeletal specialty which provides treatment and prevention
through physical therapy, medication, injections and exercise. Physiatrists
also perform specialized tests called electrodiagnostics (EMG/NCV studies)
to diagnose specific nerve disorders.
Dr. Mehta works closely with her patients to give them the best non-surgical
care possible. However, if a patient does require surgery, she then works
with the patient after surgery to enable him or her to return to a high level
of function.
